by  Victoria Ring---Bio

Dear Victoria:  What does it mean when one borrowers name is on the Deed but two names are on all the other docusments? (Pat)

Dear Pat:  It means is that there is a co-signer on the debt.

Dear Victoria:  In case of POA (Power of Attorney) which signature needs to be notarized? Is it the principal or attorney in-fact? (Stacy)

Dear Stacy:  You can only notarize the signature of the one appearing before you as per your State Statutes.  There is no method available in any state allowing a notary to notarize someone who is not present.  Review your notary law.  You can download the California handbook at Click here.

Dear Victoria: Thank you very much for the wonderful service you provide! I have purchased your training materials, subscribe to your newsletters and listen to your teleconference calls and you have been an incredible resource to me as I began to execute my notary signing business and as I learn about the bankruptcy forms processing business.

I just had a comment to make when you recommend people to view other's websites to gather information about what to put on their website.  Please make sure you stress to people that it is NOT OK to copy someone's website design and content, and just substitute their own information!  My website was recently "copied and pasted" for someone to use for their own.  This, to me, is not only unprofessional, but very unethical of someone to do.  I spent a lot of time and money designing and developing my website, and to know that someone just stole my hard work and efforts made me feel completely violated.  I have since learned to copyright my website with the U.S. Government for protection, however, this still does not guarantee people will not steal it.

I know you reach thousands of notaries, and I hope you can pass along this information.  Thanks again for all you do for us - it is truly appreciated! (Dina)

Dear Dina:  You are 100% correct!  I guess I have never stolen a website design from anyone so I didn’t think about mentioning this when I recommended people visit other website for ideas.  Getting ideas from a wide range of websites when you are researching information for your own website is common practice.  Why someone would be so lazy as to steal and copy another website exactly is ridiculous, but like you said, people do it and don’t give a second thought to the harm they cause others.

Suggestion:  Dina – I know there are certain codes you can place inside your HTML web pages that prevent copying or downloading of your information. You may want to talk with a web host or tech support person and find out how this is done. This could prevent the problem from happening to you again in the future.

Dear Victoria:  I just purchased your new book: How to Protect Yourself from Home Business Scams and Frauds and I was shocked to find out how these programs work. The information about internet scams was the biggest help to me. In fact, after reading your ebook I was able to save $200 on a program I thought was going to be good for my business. When you revealed the truth, I deleted the email and told the company never to contact me again.  Thank you so much for this extremely valuable information and saving me countless dollars in the future. Dear Victoria: I just wanted to thank you again for the great notary supplies, books and information you supplied for our January 15th 2006 Southern California Notary Luncheon. We had the largest attendance ever: 50 Notaries.  I passed out all your bookmarks to every attendee and your books you gave were one of the first items taken in our door raffle.  We do the raffle by putting business cards in a hat and the first notary drawn picks the first prize and so forth! I placed  http://www.50statenotary.com as a link to get your newsletter on our referral letter that I sent to all the notaries in attendance. Thank you so much! (Joan)

Dear Victoria:  I wanted to join the Notary Teleconference Club but the order form asks me for a username and password?  Can you fill in my form for me with whatever this is? (Brenda)

Dear Brenda:  A username and password can be anything you want it to be. It is the same thing as picking a PIN number for your credit card so you can get money out of the bank with your ATM card.  You do NOT want someone else to pick this information for you. You need to choose your own unique username and password (and not release the information to anyone else) so you can use it to access the Members area once you have joined.  If you do give someone else your username and password so they can enter the area and listen to the teleconferences, we have a security setting that records the IP address. An IP address is a unique code that identifies your particular computer.  If someone uses your username and password from their computer, your account will be blocked and you will not be able to login.  So make sure you keep your username and password private and DO NOT release it to anyone or the system could automatically block you out.
