Are You Broke? Do You Need Money Right Now? Are you just getting your notary signing agent business started? |
||||
by Victoria Ring---Bio Often, our office receives telephone calls and emails from people who say something like this: "How long will it take me to receive my order? I just quit my job and I need to make money next week." For those of you who have your own business, I am sure you chuckled at this question. But for those people just starting their first business, their minds are still focused on the "employee" mindset and they do not have a clue about how a business operates. If you fall into this category, this article is for you. Then there are others who will buy training products, participate in all the seminars and training conferences, but they never do anything with the information. Instead, they are always seeking that "magic bullet" that will give them the confidence they need. Unfortunately, people waiting on others to supply their emotional needs will never be fulfilled. If you fall into this category, this article is for you. First Things First When you start a new business and you have very little money to invest into marketing and advertising, you cannot anticipate any business income for four to six months or even longer. The old saying "You have to have money to make money" is very true. However, you can make money if you start out with nothing. But the realization is: it will take much, much longer. The Solution to the Problem The solution is simple. If you have no money to start a business and you do not have a business partner with the money to invest, you must accept the fact that your business income is not going to pay your bills. You need to find another way to bring in enough personal income to pay your personal bills. Your business income should NEVER be used to pay your personal expenses. The business income your business earns is for the business; not your mortgage, food and electricity. For example, my first year in business brought me an income of $1,700 and my expenses totaled $1,200. I certainly could not live on $500 a year. So what did I do? I moved out of my 2 bedroom apartment and into a basement efficiency to reduce my overhead expenses. Next, I got a job working for temporary agencies. The income from the temporary agencies paid my personal expenses and I was able to put all the income the business earned back into the business. When I did this, I slowly began to see an improvement in the success growth of my business. Ideas for Notary Signing Agents As a notary public, there are several choices available to you in finding immediate income to pay your personal expenses while you build your business: 1. Sign up with legal temporary agencies and work for Real Estate and Probate Attorneys. Here are a few nationwide agencies: http://www.affiliates.com Note: You do NOT need to have a paralegal certificate to work in the legal field. You only need a paralegal certificate to work as a paralegal. There are many more positions in a law firm beside paralegals. 2. Work for real estate offices in your area. Even if you only have basic office skills you can answer the phone and take messages. You need to seek any job as long as it is in your chosen field of profession. 3. Get your Real Estate license and learn the mortgage industry from the inside out. If you are a good salesperson, you can earn an excellent income selling homes. 4. Work for creditor bankruptcy attorneys and learn the foreclosure process from the inside out. Use the temporary agencies in your area or check with your local bar association for a list of creditor bankruptcy attorneys. All of these ideas will help you to earn money while you are building your business. Why? Because if you are working within the industry you are starting a business in, you will become more successful faster. The reason being, you have more experience and knowledge than the average person. This places you at an advantage in building your business. One Word of Caution But let me leave you with one final word of caution: Do not approach a potential employer and say: "I am starting my own business and I need to work for awhile to pay my bills. Do you have a job opening?" This question will produce a "no" response. Instead, you need to ask a "yes" question like: "I am a notary public who has receiving training as a notary signing agent. I would like to learn more about the real estate industry and I would love to work for your company. Do you have any jobs available?" The difference between the two approaches is that the second approach provides a value for the potential employer. The value is that you are interested in your work and will probably do a better job. The first approach provides no benefit to the employer; only you. This approach demonstrates a selfish and self-centered attitude. Summary So get out your telephone book, classified ads and community papers. Start looking for any job you can find in the real estate industry. Continue working in the field until your business is earning enough income to pay the overhead expenses as well as a salary to you that is larger than your present income. At that point you can safely quit your job. Ordering a training product is not going to immediately produce income to pay your gas, food and electricity. |
